My Notes:
The first release since 1999’s Tilt and a lot had gone on in Ian’s life to get this point. I won’t dwell on that, as you need to read Ian’s autobiography.
It’s totally different in approach to previous albums and a completely different sound. It’s a folky album and has contributions from The Coral and The Zutons, both bands Ian was producing at the time for Deltasonic records. It’s a short album but the quality of the songs is superb and shows Ian at his most vulnerable.
For some extra insight into the album, pop the kettle on and make yourself a drink, pop the album on the turntable, pop it in your CD player or fire up your choice of streaming platform, and click here before to replay the Twitter Listening Party for Tales Told before dropping the needle or pressing play.
